What is Clinical Psychology? It is the branch of psychology that emphasizes on the assessment and treatment of mental illness, abnormal behavior, and psychiatric problems of a person. In this field, you get to correlate with complex human problems. Dealing with mental illness can specify even to psychological disorders, which are a â€Å"harmful dysfunction† in which behavior is judged to be: atypical, disturbing, maladaptive, and unjustifiable (Fahoum, 2017). Psychological disorders can be broken down into two classes, neurotic and psychotic. Neurotic is usually distressing, but it is when one thinks rationally and function socially, while psychotic is when a person loses connect with reality and experiences irrational ideas and distorted†¦show more content†¦As we would assume the cognitive perspective is based off the cognitive theory, which was credited in 1936, by Jean Piaget (McLeod, 2015). He designed the theory to explain how a child constructs a mental model of the world. There are three basic components of this theory which are, schemas, adaptation, and the 4 stages of the development. The top focus for this psychology is to study the mental functions like learning, attention, memory, while analyzing the processing and storing information in the mind. In total, this correlates from the origin of the theory in which this forms at birth thru childhood, progressing to adolescence to adulthood. Question, if one is having difficulties in life, what would be the measures of cognitive therapy to cure a victim? The cognitive therapy was developed by A. T. Beck. The principles of this therapy consist of 10. Two of these principles stated by Beck and Knapp include, â€Å"†¦ that the way individuals perceive and process reality will influence the way they feel and behave.
